Yutz Merkle Insurance Agency, Inc., was founded as the Yutz Insurance Agency in 1955 by Herbert Yutz of East Stroudsburg. The agency was operated as a sole-proprietorship until 1982 when it was acquired by Richard O. Merkle. Mr. Merkle renamed the agency the Yutz Merkle Insurance Agency, Inc. at the time of the acquisition. On January 1, 1996, James J. Honochick purchased the agency. Since that time the agency has retained its name and operation as a corporation.
