I’m guessing you probably have at least one of those people in your life who subscribes to the idea that summer is over after July 4th…well, summer is far from over in the Pocono Mountains! Living in the heart of a prime vacation destination, we have a great number of summer activities yet to be enjoyed right here in our own backyard.

Of course, the mountains lend plentiful options of camping and hiking, but let’s look beyond the obvious. Did you know that you could actually attend live rodeo in Pennsylvania? Every Saturday night (through August 30th) at 6 P.M., Mount Pocono is home to The Pocono Rodeo at Memorytown USA. Get there early to treat the kids to a pony ride or stay late to enjoy the after-party with live country bands and dancing!

If you prefer to be a little closer to the action than the spectator stands, perhaps you would enjoy getting behind the wheel at Pocono Raceway. Stock Car Ride/Drive Experiences are offered at the raceway in Blakeslee well into October. Various selected track dates and packages are available.

Camelback Mountain Adventures in Tannersville is another great way to spend a summer day outdoors! Home to Pennsylvania’s only Mountain Coaster, CBK treats the adventurous to a TreeTops and Mountain Segway course, Dual Zip Lines and Zip Flyers, a Euro Bungee, a Climbing Wall, and a Free Fall Tower. And if you’re looking to beat the heat, Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark  is located right next door!

There are also all sorts of fairs, festivals, and Farmer’s Markets to enjoy this time of year, too…check here  for a complete list of upcoming activities and events close to home.

There is a lot more summer left to live, so get out there and enjoy! Our tourism board says it best:  “Life’s greater in the Pocono Mountains!”
