Have you ever wondered about all the people you deal with regularly via phone or e-mail but really don’t “know” per se? With so much business conducted over the phone or online these days, we don’t necessarily get to put faces with names and voices. We also don’t get to know much about the people we are working with beyond casual banter about the weather or how our days are going.
Yesterday morning I was having one of those typical conversations with someone from the company through which we launched our new website last Fall. Since this company is headquartered in Atlanta, we’ve only ever communicated over the phone or on the computer. I realized that not only have I never met him personally, but I really didn’t know anything about him.
I started to think maybe it’s time to put faces (and stories) to the names here at Yutz Merkle Insurance Agency! So, every other week, I’ll introduce you to another member of our staff (one-by-one, by seniority) so that you can get to know all of us better, too! Let the introductions begin!
Jim was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He attended Allentown Central Catholic High School and is a proud graduate of Villanova University. Jim and his wife, Doris, have been married for 28 years and have two sons – Jimi, a Villanova graduate currently working in Los Angeles on TV’s “Let’s Make a Deal!” and John, currently a senior Business major at Villanova.
Prior to purchasing Yutz Merkle Insurance Agency from Richard Merkle 16 years ago, Jim worked for Siemens Energy & Automation in Atlanta, Georgia, for 10 years with assignments in Product Development Engineering, Construction Marketing, International Sales and International Business Development. He also spent 3 years in Jackson, Mississippi, as a Business Unit Manager for Voltage Regulators.
Jim has been an active member of our local community over these past 16 years, serving as a member of Rotary International (for Stroudsburg and the Smithfields), as a member of the Legislative Committee of the Pocono Mountains Chamber of Commerce, as a board member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and as a president of the Athletic Booster Club of Notre Dame High School, East Stroudsburg. Jim spends his leisure time enjoying golf, travel, food, and time with family.
One thing Jim would like his clients to keep in mind is, “As we go through life, our insurance needs change. Speaking to your agent DOESN’T mean your insurance costs will go up. Often, after speaking with a client and getting to know their situation, we can recommend ways to save money on their insurance program.”
I’m excited to share our staff bios with you! I really hope you enjoy getting to know us all better. We have a wonderful staff with lots of interesting stories!
